Together, we can

Solve perinatal health disparities in minority communities.

What We Do

At Bebé Listo, we are committed to addressing the stark disparities in perinatal healthcare that disproportionately affect minority women in Virginia. Our mission is to bridge the gaps in access to quality care before, during, and after pregnancy by offering meaningful support to patients, their families, and our community partners. We focus on populations most impacted by systemic barriers such as Black and Latina women, who face significantly higher rates of maternal mortality, birth complications, and limited access to culturally competent care. Through education, advocacy, and direct services, we work to create a more equitable healthcare landscape and improve maternal and infant health outcomes in both Richmond and Northern Virginia.

Our approach combines community engagement with practical support. We host regular food and baby item drives to supply essential goods to local partner organizations. We are currently implementing a transportation assistance program using Uber Health to provide free rides to OBGYN and pediatric appointments for those with limited mobility or access. In addition, our partnerships with university clubs like those at VCU help mobilize student volunteers and raise awareness on campuses. We are also developing a comprehensive referral service to connect families with trusted resources, from financial assistance to culturally sensitive medical care. At every step, Bebé Listo is here to ensure that no mother is left behind.

Minority Healthcare Disparities

Minority communities often face higher rates of chronic illnesses, limited access to preventive care, and language or cultural barriers when seeking treatment. These disparities contribute to unequal health outcomes that our nonprofit seeks to address.
