ListoRide: Free Transportation for Perinatal Care

Reliable transportation should never be a barrier to health. Yet in the U.S., more than 1 in 5 adults without access to a car or public transit reported missing or skipping a medical appointment last year. For families in Richmond, this challenge is even greater: nearly 7% of households don’t have access to a vehicle, and the burden falls disproportionately on women of color.

Listo Ride, a new service from Bebé Listo, is here to change that. Our program provides free, safe, and reliable rides to perinatal medical appointments for women in the Richmond area. By removing transportation barriers, we help ensure that expecting and new mothers can access the care they need—on time, every time.

This service is especially critical for families most impacted by transportation inequities. In Richmond, more than half of the households without a car are led by Black women. With Listo Ride, we are addressing not only a transportation gap, but also a health equity gap that directly affects maternal and infant health outcomes.

Why it matters:

  • Missing even one prenatal appointment can increase health risks for both mother and baby.

  • Telehealth has reduced some barriers, but it cannot replace in-person care for many medical needs.

  • Reliable transportation is a proven social driver of health equity.

With Listo Ride, Bebé Listo is committed to making sure no mother in Richmond misses care because she can’t get there.
