Our Mission

Bebé Listo is a nonprofit organization committed to eliminating perinatal health disparities among minority women in Virginia. We work to ensure that every woman, regardless of race or income, has access to the care and support she needs before, during, and after pregnancy. In a state where 36 percent of Hispanic mothers and 15 percent of Black mothers receive inadequate prenatal care, and where Black infants experience preterm birth rates nearly 55 percent higher than White infants, our work addresses urgent and deeply rooted inequities in maternal health outcomes

By combining community-based outreach, education, and advocacy with direct services like transportation assistance, referral programs, and material support, Bebé Listo empowers women and families to overcome systemic barriers. These barriers include lack of access to transportation, inadequate culturally competent care, and economic challenges, all of which significantly impact health outcomes. Our mission is to transform these conditions by supporting affected communities, collaborating with partners, influencing policy, and building innovative solutions that place equity at the center of maternal and infant health.
